I'm going to be a junior in HS next year, but these past couple years have been quite a struggle for me. Freshman year, i failed a couple classes (but made those credits up). Sophmore year, i passed, but not with the best grades. I've begun looking into colleges, and i want to become more serious about school. What i want to know is that if i drastically change my school performance, would there be any hope for me to get into a decent school? I have signed up for AP and advanced classes, planning on taking at least 3 AP tests, and i'm going to aim for B's and A's. Any advice on what else i can do?

You do have a chance! Colleges notice the grade improvement, and if you bring your grades up, they’ll notice your dedication.
Maybe join a club or do some extracurriculars or volunteer work, but ONLY do them if they interest you. Don’t do it just to pad your application. I volunteered at the library because I thought it was fun, and I loved working with the librarians, and I often forgot to record my hours because it didn’t seem like work to me. It’s more fun, and you’ll stick with it. Colleges notice that you stick with something.
Talk to your academic adviser at school, and see what (s)he has to say. They may have more advice that’s specific to you.
You may not be up for the Ivies or Stanford, but just keep at it, and work hard, and you’ll have no trouble getting into a good school. :D

Thanks:)
By any chance, do you might possibly know what schools i might be able to get in?

Well, you might want to try your state schools. The UCs (CA) are within reach-- Riverside and Merced are possibilities. Possibly Davis or Santa Cruz if you do really well… If you’re not in CA, then you have a better chance, because they’re trying to get more out of state students. All the CalState universities are really good and worth applying to, also.
If you’re a good writer, St. John’s College is a possibility. It has a unique program, though, so you may want to look into it a little further before applying.
I’ve also heard Drexel is good, but I honestly haven’t looked into it that much.

Also, I forgot to mention this in my first post, work hard for the SATs and ACT. For some reason, colleges make a big deal out of it. But don’t study too hard (and I don’t think I’d go for the $500 study classes) because it’ll make you stress.

I’m in washington, and i guess UW is a good school too
