I know this is just a small amount of info that they consider, but based on this do I have the profile of an average student?

To be honest, your EC’s aren’t impressive at all. Nothing really stands out to me…

but, GPA is really good. Submit your ACT instead of SAT (definitely, no question about it). Class rank is really good, looks like you had a rigorous course load.

Make your essays stand out, I don’t know if it’s too late to do any worthy EC’s so essays are key.

What should I have done differently with my EC’s?

browning

Of course you have a chance. Probably an above average chance.

Your ECs are fine. They are not killer (like students who have won major awards, etc). But most students’ aren’t. They basically don’t ‘stand out’, but shouldn’t hurt your chances either.

Otherwise, good grades, good standardized scores, good rank, etc. I think you’ll be a competitive candidate.

which college are you applying to?

I’m applying to cornell, duke, and possibly UPenn.

Can anyone tell me what I should do to be a better candidate?

dont send in the low ap scores… can you do that? i dont remember.

what about sat IIs? they aren’t listed

I say you have a very good chance at getting in ED. Your GPA and class rank are very impressive, as are the number of AP exams you have taken. ACT score is pretty good, but nothing spectacular as is your SAT score.

As for your EC’s, even though you don’t have that many, being President of the National Honor Society is significantly impressive and goes a long way in helping you. Captain of the Varsity Tennis team is great too.

If you write good essays, then I say you have ~60-75% chance of getting in.

I mean which college within Cornell. your chances vary by college

I’m applying to the medical college. What does applying ED mean?

O nevermind early decision

I’m going to major in biology because I want to go to medical school

browning:

Cornell has 7 undergraduate colleges. You apply to a college for admission and can request that your application be reviewed by a second college.

Boiology for Med School be certainly be Arts (CAS), I’m pretty sure it could also be accomplished in Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) or, I suppose Bio-Engineering (Engineering).

Are you a New York State resident – if so, tuition at CALS will be significantly less than at the other two schools.

Early Decision would be an option.

Look into the schools, you may want to consider both CAS and CALS.

Ok then I’ll most likely apply to CAS and I’m an out of state applicant. So do I have a good chance of getting accepted?
