Do I have a chance?

Hi, I would like to apply ED to Penn.. do you think I would have chance here?

I stink at almost all sports... My extracurriculars aren't the best, but I've been trying to improve them in the past year:

Clubs: School newspaper, World Language Honors Society, Community Service Club, Yearbook, Literary Magazine, Amnesty International, Art Club, Tutor (Math)

Leadership positions:
Editor for school newspaper
Officer for World Language Honor Society
Officer for my school's biggest community service club

Does legacy count here? My dad was an alumni.

Thanks!

Legacy counts–mostly for ED! And your profile (academic) looks nice–no Calculus BC offered at your school? If so, you should be in that, not AB! And it’s hard to “judge” or “rate” ECs…good luck!

BC is offered at my school, but I’m only in AB because of a placement thing for math my school had in middle school. :frowning: I’m looking to apply to CAS. Would it be a major negative that I’m not in BC? Thanks for your input!

Bump. Also, NHS, AP Scholar, and National Merit Semifinalist

ED and legacy are a plus. Your stats look good. Do well in the Penn interview, and I think you’ve got a great chance. Good luck!

@OP: AB vs. BC won’t kill your app, but it would’ve been nice for you to be in BC. Overall, though, you’ve got great odds. Legacy counts for A LOT in ED. Good luck :)
