Hi, I have one more year of highschool and I am in the 3rd quartile with a GPA of 3.0.
My SAT scores weren't that good. I am going to take it again. But do I have a chance to get into a decent 4 year college or do I need to get better scores on the SAT?
All my teachers make it sound like the SAT is everything.

It depends on both what you define as decent and what your SAT was…

SATs are not everything. Many schools have them as optional. But it is in your best interest to get working on them. Get some practice tests and that way you can concentrate on your weaker areas. Also, if your grades show improvement that will help too.

The long and short of it is. Do the best you can with your studies and SATs and you will find a college that is right for you. If you have Naviance, look at that and you will get an idea where you stand.

There are plenty of ‘decent’ schools that accept students with 3.0 averages. But, if your SAT scores aren’t good (I don’t know what you define as good) then yes, there could be a few problems.

Unfortunately a lot of people think you need a 4.0 and 2400 to get into a good school and that isn’t true. Don’t doubt yourself.
