Thanks in advance for your responses.

If you improve the ACT a little above the SAT, there is nothing that says you don’t have a chance. And you’ll be the only student who can read her diploma.

Of course you have a chance!

Mardad, is it all that rare for students to study Latin these days?

Alochte, I think that your transcript tells a very interesting story – I get a good sense of your strengths and interests from the courses you have selected, and I am sure the Barnard ad com will, too. Romance languages, literature, drama.

Are your SAT scores kind of lopsided? Perhaps trong in Writing and CR, but brought down by a weaker math score? If so, I don’t think you need to worry too much about the scores – it’s obvious that you lean toward the humanities, and admissions people tend to look for consistency among your strong areas in the scores.

Of course it makes sense to take the ACT and hope for higher score, but your existing score is NOT disqualifying.

D2 roomed with a Columbia Student (BTW in Barnard Housing) who was a classics student. She could read both diplomas.

Bump…I’m not sure how this works but I’m assuming that by posting on my own thread it will be more visible to others?

i really don’t want to be rude, but what else do you want? you have a chance just like everyone else with stats like yours. it’s like you want to be told you’re going to get in, and obviously no one here can tell you that. you obviously have amazing stats, so just try to relax and put together a great application.
