Do I have a chance?

I'm scared that I won't be accepted into the universities that I apply to. Right now, my top choices are the University of Minnesota, and Cal Poly SLO. My GPA is 3.9 UW and 4.0+ weighted. On my ACT, I only scored a 28, and will retake it and shoot for a 30. I'm a little below average, and from out of state. Do you think I have a chance of being accepted if I go for Engineering?

bump

I’m sure that you could get into the University of Minnesota with those numbers, and a 30 on your ACT. I’m not sure why you want to, but it seems likely you would be accepted. Not sure for Cal Poly though.

Well, I was looking at this <a href=“Academic Profile of Fall 2022 Admitted Freshman Applicants by College | Office of Admissions”>http://admissions.tc.umn.edu/academics/profile.html</a>, and it scared me a little

Cal Poly SLO was very competitive this year. Average GPA for Engineering around 4.1 and Average ACT of 31. There were kids rejected from SLO but got into UCLA and UCB. If you are OOS, you might have a shot at SLO if you are full pay. Definitely retake the ACT and make sure you apply broadly. Add a couple of safeties to your list. Good Luck.
