Do I have a chance?

Hi there,

I'm about to be a high school senior, and I'm currently in the process of applying for colleges. I'm really hoping to get into either A&M or UT Austin, although I messed up my GPA pretty badly during high school so I doubt they ill accept me. It honestly makes me sick when I think that I may not get accepted anywhere because I took my education for granted these last few years. I am completely serious about bringing my grades up this year and keeping them up throughout college, but for now I need to know if I have a chance at getting accepted at any of the schools I am applying to:

UT Austin
Texas A&M
SMU
St. Edward's
Texas Tech
University of Houston
Baylor
Rice

I know some of these I have no chance of getting into, but I am applying anyway just in case. My credentials are as follows:

Weighted GPA: 3.6
Rank: Top 36%
SAT Score: 2280 (Math + Reading = 1480)
Extracurriculars: President of 2 clubs; Secretary of 1 club; Treasurer of 1 club; member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Hindi National Honor Society
Work: 10-12 hours a week every year
Interned at a company in New York and at a non-profit in India
AP scores:
English Language - 5
World History - 3
US History - 4
Spanish Language - 3
I plan on taking 6 more AP exams by the end of this year.

I know my GPA and rank are horrible, but it would be extremely helpful if someone could tell me which schools (out of the ones I am applying to or any other ones in Texas) I have a shot at getting into. Also, if I apply for a major such as Creative Writing or English, would it help my application if I include a short story that I've written in the supplemental information section?

Thank you!

I would say you have a pretty good shot at UT and TAMU, also even if you aren’t excepted into UT you will be offered into the CAP program(if you go to HS in Texas)

Thank you so much, this really helped calm my nerves about the entire thing. :)

Sorry, but its highly unlikely you’ll be admitted to Rice. I’m sure they are looking for a higher GPA and class rank.
