Junior in highschool. Enrolled in the ib diploma. Freshman year 3.8 gpa. Sophmore year 4.0 (well i took calculus summer school and that destroyed my gpa)so 3.6. Currently in ib diploma and i think i can get 4.0 gpa this next two years. my psat score was 1400. I do a a lot of community service and i was a css cross country runner. Not too much clubs but i was the President of a chess club. I know I’m not looking like the best applicant for stanford but i do a lot of passion and i also would like to run or play soccer for the stanford team.
What do you guys think??
The men’s soccer team is ranked #1 in the country and the women’s team is ranked #3. Unless you are one of the most highly recruited prep soccer players in the country you won’t be playing for the varsity team, maybe a club team.
I gather you had about a 3.9 GPA and the calculus class took that down to a 3.6 which means you got an F? Actually that in itself IMO is not too important if you reach your goal of a 4.0 GPA during junior year.
I had a very high chess rating and listed it as an accomplishment. I have no idea what the admissions officers weighed in their evaluation but I get the feeling the chess ranking was irrelevant.
This suggestion is often made because it is true. You have to separate yourself from the other applications. The best way you can probably do that is by writing a compelling essay. You haven’t given enough detail about your ECs to draw a conclusion so maybe they will be helpful.
