Do I have a Chance?

I'm from central florida, 11th grade (IB school)

I have 3.02 UGPA and 4.0 WGPA

SAT 1350
SAT MATH 2 650

I had several Cs throughout the years, several Bs and some As.

I have a good - moderate EC Activities and alot of comm. sevice hours.

Today, I heard that UF rejected several students from my school, IB kids,

whose applications were mediocre.

So Now Im worried about myself. I personally thought that kids from IB would mostlikely get accepted.

Your SAT is fine, but your GPA is a little low considering they recalculate to their own scale while weeding out non-academic courses. I'd consider it a reach with that GPA but raising it during your first semester of 12th will improve your chances.

I think you better have a safety school. If you apply early to the other Florida state schools you should be able to get substantial scholarship awards with your SAT score.

the SAT score is fine, you are in-state and you are an IB student so as long as you bump up your GPA considerably during your first semester and you apply Early Decision and say you want to enroll for the summer, you have a pretty good chance of getting in

If he applies early decision, UF is not going to see how well he does his first semester of senior year. All they r gonno be able to see is the GPA he has right now

apply early, it's is easier to get in that way. When they recalculate your gpa they take your weighted core classes. SO you gpa will probably go up. One semester isnt gonna bring your gpa up that high.

atleast apply for summer session

Do Kids In Gainesville Have A Better Chance?

no better than anyone else in FL

definitely apply for summer...sat is up there but your grades don't look stellar and UF was surprisingly more selective in terms of entering freshmen GPA this year

my dad lives in FL, and I have spent my last 2 years of HS in a local state school in GA, my SAT/ACT scores aren't stellar but my grades and extra currics are...if I apply in-state, chances?
