do I have a chance?

I was thinking about applying ED to Columbia. If not (or if I get deferred), I was also thinking maybe Harvard, GA Tech, Emory, Caltech, Washington University in St. Louis, and as a safety, NC State University (which is walking distance from my school now). Could you guys look at this and tell me how it looks?

SAT 1 (only taken once): 690 Verbal, 790 Math, 700 Writing (12 essay, 64 MC)
GPA: 3.94 UW, 5.0 W
AP scores: so far I only know a 5 on AP US Gov't and Politics, but soon I'll know for 5 more exams.

Schedule (we're not on block scheduling at my school):
Freshman year
honors world history (A for year)
honors english 1 (A for year) (top 3 in class)
health (A for year)
advanced algebra II (A for year)
german 1 (A for year) (highest average in class)
honors biology (A for year) (top 3 in class)

Sophomore year
german 2 (A for year) (highest average in class)
drama 1 (A for year)
honors chemistry (A for year) (top 3 in class)
college level civics and economics (A for year) (essentially AP Gov't and Politics, the name is so it fit state requirements of courses we have to take)
honors pre-calc (A for year) (top 3 in class)
honors english (A for year) (top 3 in class)

Junior year
AP English Language (B for year)
AP Chem (A for year) (top 3 in class)
honors German 4 (A for year) (got bumped up from german 3 after first semester) (top 3 in class)
AP Environmental Science (A for year)
AP Calc AB (A for year) (top 3 in class)
AP US History (A for year)

Our school hasn't sent out schedules for next year yet, but I'll either be taking 4 or 5 AP classes (english, german, calc bc, physics, and maybe psych), plus a drama course (drama 3 or theater productions), and honors wildlife ecology (if I'm taking 4 aps)

Extracurriculars and Awards that go with them:
German Club 10th-12th grade (11th grade treasurer, 12th grade co-president)
German Honor Society 10th-12th grade
National Honor Society 11th-12th grade
Jewish Cultural Club 10th-12th grade (guaranteed leadership senior year, because I essentially did just as much as the president did this year, he's lazy)
Science Olympiad 11th-12th grade (5th in State in Rocks and Minerals junior year)
Envirothon 11th-12th grade (5th in region, went to states junior year)
Drama Club sorta 10th grade, 11th-12th grade for sure (was in the big winter play junior year, going to costume the big winter play, and any other smaller productions senior year)
Student Legislative Assembly 10th-12th grade (co-chair of environmental committee senior year)
Track & Field 7th-12th grade (high school records in long jump, triple jump, and the 4x100 relay, MVP 9th grade, honorable mention for MVP 10th grade, Coach's award 11th grade)

Gymnastics K-12th grade (2004 state champ, 2004 regional champ and silver medalist, 2004 national champ and silver medalist and a seventh place, 2005 state bronze medalist, 2006 regional bronze medalist) (from 8th-12th grade it's trampoline and tumbling, not artistic gymnastics)
Part time job as barista 11th-12th grade (the hours vary)

I plan on majoring in chemistry, and am considering minoring in geology. I'm female. I'm not a first generation college student. And Jews aren't URMs. So I don't have any outstanding hook, there, except that chemistry is usually a male-dominated field.

Also, any suggestions of other places to apply? All my schools are kinda...reachy

I think you have a great chance at all of the schools you are applying too.
I would see georgia tech as an almost guaranteed safety and emory as a match. As far as Harvard and Columbia concentrate on your Sat's. the thing about the sat's is that they don't really help that much in admission but they can sure hurt you. Have u considered UNC and Duke. Id give UNC a match and Duke im sure you can work on, but you have a pretty bright future. oo and add some leadership next year, that should help.

Caltech would be a doozy of your reach because of your ECs. Not that your ECs aren't great, but the kids going to Caltech aren't the kind who just join school clubs and honor societies, these are the kind of kids who are winning national and international competitions. I have a friend going to Harvard this year and he placed something in like, the top 5 for international science fair, and I would not have been the least bit surprised if he didn't get into Caltech. Caltech, at least in my opinion, is that hardest school in America to get into because of its selectivity (someplace like Harvard admits 8 times as many kids as Caltech).

i think u have reaches. damn ur good

I'm not really interested in Duke, but if I were, I have legacy there, so I could probably have a decent chance.

Oh, and I calculated my weighted GPA wrong. It's actually 5.56.
Does that change it at all?

Duke's a very, very, and i mean very good school #5 in the nation!, If I had a legacy there and even had the slightest higher chance of getting in i would be so freakin happy... but different people like different schools..

With regards, to your GPA, most schools recalculate it so I don't think it changes much.. but keep up the good work
