I hope to major in History and English (even though my reading scores aren't very high..)

i know i'm not exceptionally qualified, but do i have a chance? please let me know... and if not, are there any schools you would suggest for me? i just hope for a good school that provides a lot of resources, where i can be comfortable and work hard

Well, everyone has a chance, but it's hard to tell what yours is from your stats. We need to know more than a weighted GPA. Class rank? Unweighted? a 4.2 could mean B's depending on number of honors classes.
But keep in mind, even a seemingly under qualified applicant with an awesome essay and recs can get in. Don't give up!

3 things:

1) obviously, do well in your senior year classes
2) You'll want to improve on those SAT scores. they don't stand out right now.
3) Your major selling point will be the depth of experience with the church groups, the volunteering and all that. you want to tell a story with your application, and it sounds like the best story to be told is with AWANA, the youth group and other volunteer work. Keep after that, get noticed somehow, it speaks to qualities that admissions offices love to see, and you clearly do a lot of it.

Good luck,
D

oh ok, thanks so much!
