So do I have any chance at any of these places? I know my GPA is not very good and my SAT scores could be better. Im getting kind of worried.

American U
George Washington U
Penn State U Park
University of Delaware
Georgetown (i know, HUGE reach, but it doesnt hurt to try right?)
Villanova U
Elizabethtown College
University of Georgia
University of Maryland
University of Miami (FL)

GPA: 2.9 (i know its terrible, mainly because of freshmen year)
SAT I: CR:680 M:610(ugh..) W:680
Took 3 SATIIs today(Math II, Spanish, Lit), dont think I did very well
APs: Europen History(11), Lang & Comp(11), US History(12), Statistics(12), Physics(12), Lit. & Comp(12), Spanish(12)
The rest of my courses are honors and in most cases the highest level possible, so hopefully my guidance counselor will put down that I am taking the most rigorous schedule available

Extracurriculars: Varsity Cheerleading (10,11,Captain 12), Physics Olympics(11, Event Leader 12), Peer Mentoring(11,12), Community Softball League (9-12, All Stars 10,11), Volunteer with youth cheerleading team, Spanish Exchange (11)

I should have pretty good teacher reccomendations at least thats what I gathered from what the teachers writing them have been saying to me.

your gpa is pittiful. so is my spelling but whatever. Get better SAT score and colleges might over look your low gpa. did you fail everything freshman year?

The gpa will hurt you but if you do way better on the SATs you mite still have a chance. And maybe if u improved since freshman year..colleges will see that has a upward trend.

It is to late to try for better SAT scores at this point, and even if it wasn't, I just cant seem to get my math score up. I don't know why. On other standardized tests I've taken, math is my best score. Is there anything else I can do to try to make up for my awful gpa? Does anyone have any recommendations for colleges that are a better match. I don't really get any help from my guidence counselor in this area, and I'm the first born child so my parents are generally not much help either.

wat about some of ur extra ciruclars? ( sorry about sp)
im applying to gw, american, and penn state u but my sat score is low like a 1010 act a little higher but my gpa is pretty solid
however if thats ur unweighted no sweat...run to ur counselor and find out ur weighted u should already know from ur transcipts and stuff...

but its hard to tell bc most scdhool want an allrounded person....hollistic not just numbers.
hope this helps

Thanks coffeecrazy. That does help. My school doesnt weight GPAs, so I'm not sure if I can get it from my guidence counselor. Also Class Rank, which was the only weighted thing that my school calculates, was taken away because of the overly competitive nature of my grade, but I think I can still get that from my guidence counselor.
