Do I have a chance?

Here are my stats:
International Student
SAT 1: 2010 (CR: 680, Maths: 730, Writing: 600)
SAT 2: Math 1c 730, Physics 780, Chemistry 760)
GPA: 3.1 (my school does'nt have a ranking sysrem)
Have decent ECAs.
The thing is I need a lot of aid and with my stats is it possible to get in?

tanveer149,

Here are the 50% ranges of accepted students for each section of the SAT:

CR: 610-700
Math: 640-730
Writing: 610-700
(NOTE: Writing scores are not yet considered by admissions staff when evaluating applications.)

Your CR score is fine, Math is fine, and Writing is acceptable. Just keep in mind that your scores will be in direct competition with those of other international applicants, some of whom will have even higher scores.

Those are some impressive SAT II scores, but you didn't need me to tell you that!

Is that GPA out of a 4.0 scale? If so, it is a bit low for Lafayette. Does your school have a very demanding curriculum?

If you are accepted based on your academic and extracurricular merits, you are guaranteed to get all the $$$ you need, so no worries there.

thanks a lot...the GPA is out of 4 but my school follows O-level and A-level curriculum..I got 8 A's and 3 A's in my O-levels and A-levels respectively

tanveer149,

Your demanding curriculum will certainly be taken into consideration by admissions officers.

retook SAT in december...new score 2140 (730 CR/ 730 M/ 680 W)

tanveer149,

Great improvement! Although it may only be due to random score fluctuations, you should definitely inform Mr. Staats via email. If a decision has yet to be reached on your application, those scores will be taken into consideration.

I already ordered a score report to be sent to Lafayette...their deadline for scores is Feb 1st, so do I still have to inform them by e-mail?

tanveer149,

I had assumed you had applied ED. The score report will get there in time, so there's no need to send an additional email.

didnt apply ED cause its usually a disadvantage for intels...of the thirty kids who applied ED from my country only one got accepted (all wanted aid)

where are you from, talk to fsa1 he is a pakistani first year and went through o / a levels as well,
as for me i think you have a decent chance for getting into lafayette

yo........

hey man what were your stats? how much aid did you get?

u can check out my stats at "class of 2011 from Nepal thread",,,,, just search for that thread in the international thread... I got almost full aid..it was pretty decent..best of luck for your application..
