My biggest concern is athletics. I never played any sports in high school and now I’m worried that will negatively impact my chances.

Seems to me like chances are good.

I wouldn’t rule it out, but your SATs won’t help you.Are you ethnically interesting, or financially disadvantaged?I’d push the public service stuff in your essays and recs. I think it is a reach. I’d be sure to visit, and I’d consider ED. It will improve your chances somewhat.

Thanks so much for the help.

Just got my October SAT scores. CR: 780, W: 770, and M: 680. Do you think it’s going to help?

I’m just a white girl from Jersey, so no diversity pull there.

My Williams Common app. supplement essay is about a church mission trip I went on this summer, and I’ll have a recommendation from my youth leader about service.

Also, will AP Scores have much of an impact? I got a 4 in Art History, a 5 in English Language, and a 5 in U.S. History. Most colleges I’ve heard from say it’s not much to them, but my guidance counselor says it will have quite a bit of sway.

I don’t agree with the guidance people. The problem is that you need a way to look different at Williams, if that is really your first choice.Your SATs neither help nor hurt you. Your grades and stellar, just really need to connect why Williams will be “blessed” by you, and you by Williams.Unfortunately, there are only a few slots and a lot of qualified kids-Visit, make sure they know you have been there, and if it is really your first choice, ED will help.I also think Swarthmore is a reach for you…Why not Vassar or Middlebury? They are marginally easier to get into, and Midd might value your writing abilities more.
