Do I have a chance

I'm an international student from Ethiopia, stats are a bit too low for Kenyon but here goes:

SAT: 1960 (600 CR, 710 MA, 650 WR)
SAT IIs: expected >700 in 3 subjects
GPA: 84 average, (low because of P.E. and Ethiopian foreign languages)
Class Rank= 8/40--class size
Extracurriculars: pretty good I guess,

So do I have a chance to get in, plus I need aid. If anyone knows the in depth procedures and details of the financial aid process, please tell me. I'm totally in the dark here

Oh come on somebody, anybody. Bump

How much aid do you need?

I don’t know exactly what your chances are, but apply anyways and make sure your essay is absolutely spectacular. Good luck!

I can probably pay about 15000, nothing more

Your CR is a little low. Also, Kenyon does not require the SAT II, but feel free to send the scores anyway. Admissions, especially at Kenyon, is more than just a numbers game. It is hard to judge your chances with only test scores and GPA.

But what else is there?

You didn’t mention anything about extracurricular activities/clubs, athletics, volunteer work, awards, teacher recs, or anything that would set you apart from the rest of the applicants. Any life experiences or something unique you have accomplished that could be considered a “hook.” Also, how are your writing skills?

I’ve always wondered what “hooks” are, what can be considered a hook?

Extracurriculars:
-Worked as an Assistant Media Officer for a radio program on HIV/AIDS awareness. It was for no pay though. I also made newspapers and brochures for the same awareness organization
-At school I’ve done a lot and it would be stressed on my recommendations.

Recommendations: I can bend the teachers however I want and I mean HOWEVER I WANT. I’m basically writing the whole thing. What should they be like, give me an example. I’ve also got a counselor recommendation that could work to my favor.

I got into Kenyon with a 1730 on my SAT. It’s really not all about your SAT score at all. What’s most important to Kenyon is that you understand what they’re about- they want to see how passionate you are and how compatible you are with the school. It’s good to have all straight As (even though my scores were low, I do have a 4.3) and good SAT scores, but what really stands out to them is your personality.

Hey guys, I just got my decision. Sadly I got rejected. Its a pity, I really liked the school and I thought I showed that on my essays. There is really no coming back, huh
Well thanks everyone for all your advice.
Hope you enjoy your years at Kenyon :)
