Do I have a chance?

Hey guys,
So I'm in kind of a nerve-wracking position and I would really appreciate your help- I only really discovered Wellesley after the Early Decision deadline had passed...and I absolutely love it. It is far and away my top choice, but I'm afraid I only had a shot applying ED. Anyway, if you could tell me what my chances are I would really appreciate it!

GPA - 3.8

SATs:
Critical Reading: 800
Writing: 800
Math: 700

SATIIs:
literature - 800
math 1-670

12th grade schedule:

AP Calculus
AP Biology
European Lit
Honors Latin
19th Century US History

My school doesn't offer AP humanities (which is unfortunate because I'm definitely more of an English/History person)...but for reference, I have taken the hardest course load available.

Extremely competitive highschool-- last year 100% of applicants got into Wellesley (although to be fair there were only 5)

Awards:
-Departmental Honors in English: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade
-NCTE National Achievement Award in Writing (essentially means I am ranked as the #1 writer in my grade, and 1 of 500 students who were then selected at a national level)
-National Merit commended
-Accepted to an honors weekly seminar based on the Pulitzer Prize
-Music: got into district bands on flute

ECs:

-Flute and Jazz Saxophone (4 years)
-Pit Orchestra, Pep Band, Music Camp (all are 4 years)
-Varsity Volleyball (4 years)
-Junior State (3 years)
-Creative Writing: attended the Iowa Young Writer's Studio last summer, which accepts 25% applicants. I also completed NaNoWriMo, and have won short story contests at my school.
-Hiking: I climbed all the 48 mountains in New Hampshire over 4,000 feet-- called the 48 4000 footers club, it's an official group-type thing
-YRUU (Unitarian Universalist) Youth group

Essays:
I think they're very good, writing is definitely my strongest asset- my guidance counselor told me recently that if I get in, it will be because they're looking for a writer. Also, hopefully my high SATs somewhat offset my low GPA. Fingers crossed.

Please let me know what are my chances! thanks

Chill. I was expecting a much worse profile from the intro to this post. Everything here is really good. Without class rank or any sort of class context, it is hard to judge GPAs, but all by itself a 3.8 is not low. My school submitted a weighted GPA and class rank, but my unweighted GPA was 3.82 and I really don’t think it kept me out of any schools (class rank was 15/800, so take that as you will). I think you have a good shot of getting into Wellesley. Apply early evaluation and you might have your decision by the end of February.

Well, my GPA is 3.8 weighted, which is pretty low- it’s a 3.6 unweighted. And I think I’m 30/350. Thanks for the input, I’ll definitely be doing early evaluation

I believe you have good shot at being admitted to Wellesley. Your strong SATs, challenging courseload and well-rounded ECs should offset your gpa, which actually is not as bad as you think it is. After all, you have been a committed athlete (varisity volleyball 4 years) and musician (4 years of flute and jazz saxophone, Pit Orchestra, Pep Band, Music Camp) thus it is understandable if you do not have a perfect gpa. Your national writing award also distinguishes you, not to mention the fact you have hiked all the mountains in New Hampshire over 4,000 ft. It sounds like you would fit in well at Wellesley. I suggest you apply Early Evaluation. Invest quality time writing your essays and I suspect you will be in a very good position. Good luck!

Your SATs can balance out for your gpa. If you spend time on your essays and show the adcom why you want to be at Wellesley, specifically, that will help your application. Good luck with the admissions process.
