Been rejected by Davis, Cal Poly SLO, and wait listed by both UCSD and UCSC, which worries me about getting into Santa Barbara. Here are my stats
3.65 UC GPA
34 ACT
670 SAT II Math 2
10 AP Classes
Decent essays
3 years of varsity soccer
Working 10 hours a week senior year
I know my GPA is well below the average, but do I have a good chance of being accepted?
I would say it would be 50/50. UCSB does like High test scores, so they may be more forgiving on the GPA. Good Luck.
Thanks. Do you have any idea why I didn’t get accepted to UCSC? Does that mean my essays were awful?
Only admissions can tell you what your application was lacking. UC decisions can be a crapshoot in that there are more qualified applicants that they have room for in each major. GPA is a much better indicator of an academic peformance than one test score, so maybe a lower than average GPA with an outstanding ACT was some kind of red flag: Lazy student, Great test taker??? I do not mean to offend, but that is all I can determine based on your posted Stats. Good Luck and I am sure you will have some good choices in the end.
