Do I have a good chance of getting accepted to UC Berkeley or Stanford?

Hi everyone!

I'm a senior at the University of Washington, majoring in Anthropology of Globalization & minoring in Linguistics. My GPA is 3.71, but could potentially go up as to as much as 3.80 at this point, depending on how my grades are for these last 2 quarters.

I am very interested in pursuing an MA at either UC Berkeley or Stanford, in Sociocultural Anthropology or Linguistic Anthropology, specifically. I haven't taken my GEDs, but plan to some time next year. I am taking a year off between undergrad & grad to gain some experience in the field as well (I hope to be able to find an internship or volunteer opportunities after graduation), doing (or assisting with) research in Sociocultural or Linguistic Anth.

I was at one point working on an Honors thesis, but for financial reasons, I started working 30+ hrs weekly during Fall quarter of senior year & had to drop my thesis, because I found that under those circumstances, I would not be able to complete it & graduate on time.

Overall, do I have a hope of getting into a competitive Anthropology program like Stanford or Berkeley? I feel a little average, & want to know if I should set my sights lower, or if there's anything else I can do to give myself a chance. Thanks so much for your insights!

I will also most likely be graduating Cum Laude, if that helps in your evaluations.

Bumping… I feel like I may have posted this in the wrong thread, since most everyone is posting about getting into undergrad. :</p>
