An academy rep told me that in the USAFA admissions formula SAT math counted 22% and SAT English counted 15%. Experience tells me that you can't always believe everything you hear about academy applications. However, I'd be willing to bet that SAT scores have a whopping big influence on your application. Prepping really does help, especially in math. Prepping can make a 100 point difference for a student who's already good in math, but just went into the test cold the first time.

Yes, I am a Doolie. Don't let this inflate your head, or give a false sense of security, but I sincerely think you will be getting your appointment, whether early with an LOA, or in March like most do. My academics are very similar to yours with few exceptions. My athletics were very different though. I didn't have any HS sports, but I had several state titles and world holdings in Taekwondo, so that helped me a lot. If you want my stats, PM me.

NOTE: My statements are ONLY the opinions of myself and do not represent those of an application authority or otherwise.

Thanks, hornetguy. It's nice to hear that my high school record is comparable to yours, but as someone stated before, you never know what makes the academy choose one person over another. I don't want to take any chances.

I am almost done with my online application to USAFA...all my teachers have submitted their evaluations and now the only two things left on my plate are the CFA and my ALO interview (which is scheduled for Monday). As far as nominations go, I have completed my part for my representative and one of my senators. I sent a letter to my other state senator, but his office has not sent me the information I need to continue. I contacted the office and left a message earlier this week, but I don't want to be a pest...

Thank you very much for all of your input. One more thing...Do you have any suggestions for me going into my ALO interview? Is it good to bring a resume, transcript, list of questions, etc.?

Hornet is your last name Ball?

Hey Jame, just be genuine with your ALO. Tell the honestly and truly why you want to go the Academy-- be sincere, these guys have been in a long time they can gauge sincerity very well, also don't get flustered remeber that he's on your side in the long run-- just playing devil's advocate.

A short (1 page max.) resume might be good if you have not met before.

Benjo, no I am not Ball.

Bring a resume for sure. Also, I brought another couple sheets with bullets expouding my activities and qualifications, etc for my reference to speak from. He ended up keeping them and using them as notes for his reference. So, bring info with, it will help both of you maximize your profile.

Thank you for all the input. After reading some previous threads from other USAFA hopefuls, I have determined that while it is always nice to gain insight on where your record stands, no one can predict what your chances of appointment are. If it was irritating to read one more post on "do you think I can get in?", I'm sorry. Somehow, I thought I was being original. :) The best I can do is focus on what lies ahead and convey how strongly I desire to become an officer in the Air Force, to lead this country, and to serve others. Thanks again.

You can't apologize for taking what you're applying for seriously. Do whatever you can to understand and appreciate fully what you're going into.

Best of luck.

Jame3 -- no question that this forum is all about getting the info you need to know where you are strong and weak -- you have nothing to apologize for! I think it's great that all these 2010's are taking the time to answer -- they know what they're talking about! (It's also nice for those of us who have been reading these boards for a long time to see the 2010's posting from the other side! ) Also, don't forget that other AFA hopeful's are getting good info from your questions. Best of luck to you and keep us "posted".
