I am a Hispanic senior who lives in California and am starting the application process and UC Davis is one of the schools is one of the schools I want to apply to but not sure if I have a chance at getting in. My weighted GPA is a 3.5. My SAT score was a 1420 and my ACT score was a 22 (going to retake both). I took one AP class sophomore year, 3 junior year, and am currently taking 4 AP classes. I am actively involved in six clubs and have ran track since sophomore year. I currently have a part time job at a restaurant. I’ve also started the personal statement essays and from what I’ve heard they are pretty strong/good. I also want to go to Davis because I want to be a bio major and Davis has a great bio program.

The biomed program is tough and requires a strong GPA. Your job and activities are good. You need to up that Act score to at least a 28, better with a 30. Apply with a great essay.

Honestly, I don’t think you have much of a shot. Apply anyhow but, be sure to also apply to several less competitive schools.
Good luck.

Calculate your UC GPA first, since you need a minimum 3.0 to apply:

UCD’s Averages in-coming Freshman:
GPA- 4.07
ACT - 28
Also check out the UCD common data set. They only admitted 1% of Freshman with a GPA of 3.0-3.2 unweighted.

UCD is a high reach. You need to look at other schools that will fit your Stats. I would consider UCM/UCR and several Cal States such as Channel Islands, Stanislaus, East Bay, San Marcos, Sac State. If you are determined to attend UCD, use the TAG program at a community college. Good Luck

The bio program is tough which is why they require decent GPA’s and SAT/ACT. I noticed when I was applying that they took academic statistics into huge consideration.
