What are my chances?????????
Major:Biomedical Engineering: Premedical

Well your GPA is solid, but you might wanna re-take the SAT and/or take the ACT. From personal experience, I found the ACT to be easier than the SAT (easier questions, only four answer choices except on math section, no guessing penalty. The hardest thing about the ACT is the shortened time limit (35min/40 questions on ACT reading and 25min/24 questions on SAT reading). My suggestion is to try the ACT on the soonest available test date and see how you do (with or without study). Then re-take (and STUDY for) the test that you think you have the best advantage on. Being a bio-based major I believe you should re-take the Math level 2 and aim for the 700’s and take another science-based subject test (ditch the US history re-take). I recommend physics subject test since that was the last class you had. I know a few people who had physics their junior years and took the physics subject tests in fall of their senior years and scored high (680+). If you think you can do it, since you seem to be proficient in Spanish as well, take Spanish, physics and math II subject tests all at once just to improve the odds that you do well on them :). Your EC’s are good especially with work experience, and if you could squeeze in some community service before application time, that would help as well. Overall, if you improve your test scores, I think you have a great chance of being accepted to UCSB! You should also apply to UCSD because that school is great for bio/pre-med majors. Good luck!

I do believe you have a good shot of getting in based on how my scores were. By the Way I was accepted to UCSB class of 2014! I was a IB diploma graduate, not so special it’s basically like AP. I wasn’t in a private school, public one. Your GPA is pretty high, but here is what I got.4.0 freshman year. I got a 3.33 i believe sophomore year, i was quite content with B’s 4.29 All IB (honors courses except Film studies, i needed an art). I got a 4.29 again in my senior year.
Classes I took Junior Year
IB Adv. Chem, Scored a 3 on the AP test which I took despite not having taking AP chem.
Spanish 3, Pre-Cal, IB english, TOK, Filmstudies (only non-honors course), History of the Americas IB. I got A is half the classes (Pre-Cal, Chem, TOK, and Film Studies) B’s on the others.
Senior Year i took
IB Physics
IB English 4
IB HA2
IB Spanish 4
IB Psychology
IB Calculus.

The Test I took, and here are my scores.
AP Calculus BC (they didn’t offer the course in my school) I got a 5.
AP Chem (same thing) i got a 3.
IB Spanish i got a 5
IB History of the Americas I got a 6.
On everyother IB test I got a 4.

My SAT score was 1700. Math 620, Reading 560, writing 540 pretty low, but ayyy i only took it once because i had to take the SATII test next month and that was the last shot I had to take it. >___< not too bad but i should have studied or something.

My SAT II scores:
Chem 720 (hadn’t taken the class in about a year so i didn’t study)
Spanish 760 (I am a native speaker XD)
Math 640 XD

Schools i applied too.
University of the Pacific, i got accepted under early acceptance in november, so i didn’t have to apply to a lot of schools.
UCs
Santa Cruz: accepted Computer engineering
Irvine: accepted Computer Engineering
Santa Barbara: accepted Computer Science
Davis: Rejected Aerospace engineering T.T

Finally, remember all of my IB test weren’t even presented when I applied, after I got accepted they got them. My AP chem test, sat II, and SAT were the only test I did.

Community Service: none. Activities: none.
My essay to the UC’s were like this
Prompt 1: I talked about raising the bar in my family and how i lead the trail for my sister.
Prompt 2: I wrote that i was proud i was a funny guy. One of my sentences was: I like to debate in history class, some people say i am good, others say i am a Masterdebater. LOL

Don’t Worry Pal, You look like you did more than I did. I decided to go to UCSB because I saw there campus and wanted to live there. That and I despised Irvines lame campus and no diversity. If you care, I am latino (ethnicity doesn’t make a difference since no public school gives attention to Ethnicity or affirmative action since it is against the law).

thank you both for chancing me!

justdrinkkoolaid: masterdebater lol

Oh yeah I forgot to post my stats:

EC’s
Played baseball until junior year, volunteered 50+ hours at my church, volunteer tutor, semi-founder of Rubik’s cube club at my school (I know its nerdy lol), member of key club for 3 years, received honor guard and cum laude based on GPA.

Essays:
Prompt 1: Talked about how my family and church has shaped my goal to help unite religion and science, specifically by trying to find evidence of an intelligent designer through physics.

Prompt 2: Described my favorite quality of myself and of the human species as a whole: curiosity. Without curiosity, we would have never progressed this far, and the ultimate goal of ANY species is to progress. Therefore without curiosity we have no practical purpose :).

Interesting thing about myself:
I skipped 2nd grade and always was about a year and a half younger than my classmates (I threw that in to help me stand out from the masses lol).

Schools:
UC Santa Barbara: accepted physics major (took offer of admission)
UC Riverside: accepted physics major
UC Santa Cruz: accepted astrophysics major
UC Irvine: accepted physics major
