Do I have a higher chance for MIT as a freshman or transfer?

Alright, a bit of an overview:
I have always gotten A/A+s throughout high school and am currently in the IB programme as a junior scoring 39/42. The problem is that last year (sophmore year), I was badly depressed for complete none sense reasons but they impacted my results really badly. I generally still managed A/A+s but pulled a C in my further maths course (this is a US equivalent C - I know, absolutely terrible) due to lack of energy to study. Maths is my favourite subject and it is generally my strongest area so I feel like this grade would really crush me (this was the year we took our IGCSEs by the way). Since I am an international applicant, would it be better to just try and get into a different university first and then score as high as possible for a year and then try to transfer? It feels like my chances of ever being accepted as a freshman has been totally blown by my actions last year and it has made me reconsider. I intend to major in computer science and minor in mathematics.
