@Ray192: …I AM a pagan gypsy confucianist rastafarian. Religiously and fursiously so…

I think if you’re passionate about something (such as vegetarianism or utilitarianism) then these things have the potential to become hooks… if you do something with it. And there’s not much to do with that. I think an extremely unique extra curricular that you are highly dedicated to can be a hook. Like a movie star getting accepted to Harvard - her hook is that she’s an actress and a celebrity and not many people are. You have to find something that makes you stand out. Most importantly, you have to show that you’re a good person who will contribute something special to the college’s campus.

Happy Easter!

reach4thestars45, I like your point. That’s what I meant. Even though being a famous movie star isn’t the listed “athletics, donations, URM, etc,” I don’t see how that couldn’t be a hook!

And no… HIV is not alive :)

Since you think that’s a hook, you definitely need a hook to get into college.

I didn’t misunderstand you, I just explained how people view it- “Oh, you know a cultural tradition? Great for you and every other applicant.” Unless this is a class activity or major that needs to be filled, it’s not a hook, or I’m a shinto hindu pagan gregorian chanter who eats only raw foods.

…Also not a “dude”
