My overall GPA is righ now: 3.79 , when i applied UC: 3.86 and i have 1W(winter semester)
I have lots of work experiences in managerial area and wrote good personal statement include army and work experiences.

do i have a little chance to go to UCLA Or UC Berkeley?
i also applied UC Sandiego and UC irvine

please give me some advices~

thank u

have you checked out statfinder.com? It is a cite run by the UCs that gives you all the statistics on how many people got in to what school from what major with what gpa out of how may applied… etc.

Look up statistics to your hearts content =D i know i did
(go to the custom tables tab)

Subjectively, I’d say your odds at getting into Irvine and San Diego are >95% and getting into Berkeley and LA are roughly 60%, meaning its likely you get into at least one of them. That’s just my opinion though. Good luck.

getting a B in both ur calc courses might hurt u for UCB and UCLA, since econ is heavily calc based at those schools, and since calc is a major pre-req for both.

0% UCLA 0%UCB

you’re missing >2 prereqs for both schools; both of those schools autoreject for missing prereqs in that major because it is impacted.

someone correct me if I am wrong…

Depends if it is highly impacted or just impacted. I don’t think any application is an auto reject unless they are missing core requisites

Econ is one of the most impacted majors at both of those schools. I dont see that he is missing any pre-reqs, what my biggest concern would be, is the Bs in the calc classes

miss 2 prereqs? what did i miss? i dont think so

I stand corrected, I could swear financial account and managerial accounting were pre reqs for economics @ CAL&UCLA. (Guess that was only for biz admin@CAL and biz econ@UCLA)

My bad. I’d say great chances at both and 100% UCSD/UCI, 80%CAL 60%UCLA

CAL’s econ has a slightly lower average gpa admit.

@sanitydc why 80% Cal and 60% UCLA

avg econ admit gpa 3.7 @ CAL

avg econ admit gpa 3.84 @ UCLA

Im assuming good essay including all of his leadership experience, all prereqs satisfied with good grades.

Yes CAL is a better school, but they’re not as picky with GPA as UCLA is as far as I can tell. They look more at the essays and all of that.

That’s my 2 cents.

The other 2 schools he has tag for.

haas/berkeley does not require any accounting at all. what are u talking about? once u get there u must take financial and managerial

ya it was UCI’s paul merage school of business business admin degree that require financial and managerial as well as UCLA’s biz econ.

my bad, haven’t looked at this stuff in a few months- it was rusty.

your stats are pretty good except for the B’s in calc.

question: i have a 3.95 GPA with fall 2009–the B i got was in a 3 unit poli sci class, which isn’t part of the major pre-reqs, and i still have calc 2 and micro econ left for my major pre-reqs, how since kghboy53 has more pre-reqs than i do done, does that mean he has a better chance?

opps, i didn’t see that you were missing accounting! that’s a big one for UCLA.

^ sigh… you don’t need accounting for econ major at UCB or UCLA.

I am a Spring admit for Berkeley. Applied to Berkeley, LA and San Diego for Economics. I received B’s in both Calc I and II and an A- in Micro and Macro. I didn’t get into UCLA so it seems the trend people mentioned about LA being more picky about GPA is somewhat true. My GPA when I applied was 3.7 so I was surprised I got in at all. IMO, GPA is is the most important factor but when your stats are similar to almost 12,000 other applicants, your essay is the biggest determinant. I hope you are well written and good luck to you.

sorry, i was thinking of biz-econ.

econ major guys~ not bus-econ!~ :)

sdsoccer — thank u so much for your information… that means…i have a little chance :)
