Your scores are low for Cornell. The SAT 2s are particularly low. I would say that you don’t have a realistic chance.

It’s realistic, but prettyunlikely. GPA is excellent, ACT score is decent at best, but not good for cornell.

any perspectives?

His ACT scores fall under their average range, what are you guys talking about?

According to Cornell’s most recent Common Data Set, 36% of admitted students (who submitted the ACT) scored lower than 30.

Presumably this 36% had something else going for them (like finishing in the top 1% of their class???)

I think OP has a realistic and reasonable shot.

CAS admission rate is 16% for males. Your class rank, GPA, etc. are probably in the above average range of applicants. However your ACT score is at or below the 25th percentile for CAS. It will come down to your essays & letters of rec.

I think your high class rank will serve you well, although it could just be a function of how your school chooses to weight honors/AP classes. Scores are a bit low though. I’d say you’re 50/50 on getting in, depending on recommendations and your essay.

@Zephy; more like being a double (or more) legacy or a recruited athlete. OP doesn’t have a realistic shot.

@IthacaKid

Let’s agree to disagree – since neither of us really knows!! Only way OP will find out is to apply.

As far as statistics go, the OP would hardly be even close to the worst admitted to Cornell. The chances are will within the “realistic” range, and indeed borderline to the “likely” range.

bump 10 char thanks!

You have a realistic chsnce, but if you could bring your US History SAT II up to 700, or near there, and your ACT up to 33, I’d say you have a very very good shot. As is, you’ve still got a pretty decent chance.

CAS generally seems like the hardest school at Cornell to get into (just based on the fact that it receives the most applications by far) have you considered looking at the AEM major in CALS? I know that’s competitive too but you never know

bump 10 char, thank you!

AEM is more competitive than CAS, even though overall, CAS is more competitive than CALS.

I think you have a very reasonable shot, I’d think you have at least a fifty percent chance.

Although, what’s with the GPA? A 101 gpa? I think I’m missing something here.

thank you very much, and it’s a weighted gap

gpa* ^ 10 char

Just wait the next 40 days! Since you have already submitted the application, there’s not really a way for you to do anything anymore haha. Good luck though!
