As many of you know, I got rejected from Tufts early decision. I don't want to sound ****y, but I feel like I should be able to get into either UMich or GW, so do I have any chance AT ALL at a school comparable to Tufts, like Georgetown or Northwestern (those are comprable, right?) ? I feel like I probably wouldn't considering I showed MAJOR interest in Tufts, applied Early Decision (both of which Tufts is known for liking a lot...) and still got flat-out rejected. Please be honest, as I would rather not waste my time if I don't have a chance.

On another note, are there any other schools comprable or slightly less competitive than Tufts, Georgetown, and Northwestern that I am overlooking and should consider? I'd prefer not to go south of DC or west of Michigan, so that kind of limits my options, but maybe I'm missing a good school. Thanks a lot in advance. I appreciate all of everyone's help.

I'm sorry that Tufts would not take you :( However, you still definitely have a reasonable shot at the other institutions. However, Northwestern may be out of your reach because of your grades, which may have been what kept you back in the first place (my own opinion).

Unfortunately being Jewish has almost no effect (there is little to almost no underrepresentation of the Jewish undergraduate population of almost all colleges)

Go to Michigan. My daughter goes there and is having a blast. My daughter is Jewish, has joined a sorority and has found the classes challenging. She hasn't taken much advantage of Hillel, but I believe Michigan's Hillel is the best funded in the US. Georgetown and Northwestern are fine too. So is Wash U.

Funky, I'm Jewish too and went to Michigan for grad school. While there I joined an Israeli folk dance club. It was so much fun, I have only good memories of learning these great traditional dances with new friends. I'd say 1/2 of my classmates were Jewish. Michigan is indeed a FINE FINE school.
You know I wish you only the best of luck.
Jjsmom

Could I call Tufts and ask them why they rejected me? Would they actually give me a reason? I'm sure it was grades.

Anyway, I still haven't heard back from Michigan. The first batch of people from my high school who heard back allll got in, even the borderline kids. However, the second batch got mostly all deferred, even kids easily qualified, which of course worries me. Could Michigan have more apps than they expected and gone into defer mode in hopes of seeing who really wants to go there? Anyway, it's been almost 2 months...I appreciate everyone's help. Have fun at Tufts.
