I’m an out-of-state student from Texas, which I know will hurt my chances greatly. But here are my stats:
GPA: 3.85 UW, 4.1-4.2 W (I’m not sure about my UC GPA)
Rank: Top 15% out of 723 students… I go to a pretty competitive high school, and it really doesn’t help when you have 20 National Merit Semi-Finalists in your class >=(
SAT I: 2130 (760 Math, 740 Writing, 630 CR)
SAT II’s: Taking them this October
Extra-curriculars/clubs: NHS, Red Cross Club, Invisible Children’s Club, Hope for Africa, Recycling club, Basketball Freshman Year, lots and lots of work experience.
Senior Course Load includes 5 AP classes, if that matters…
And that’s about it I think. I really don’t think I have much of a shot at all, I think my only hope might be writing a good personal statement, but I’m not even sure that can get me a 50-50 shot =(
Also if you guys have any advice on how to write your personal statement, that would be greatly appreciated!

I’d say you have a really good chance. The troubled economy may be to your benefit since the UCs might take more OOS students. Your stats are all above the averages and it looks like you have some ECs too.

BTW, what’s your major? That makes a difference. I still think you have a good shot.

oh um i was planning on majoring in either chemistry or biochemistry, anything that can get me on path to pharmacy
