I just finished my freshman year at a public school. I took 1 AP class (Human Geography) and I got a 3. As of right now, I want to major in Political Science and I know Human Geography can tie into that major. Will this heavily affect if Ivy Leagues accept me, especially since I got an A in the class and they might think my classes are easy?
Besides that, I’ve tried to remain involved during summer and in school. The 3 on that AP Exam as well as a 3.9 GPA would be considered my weakest points so far and I can’t help but feel stressed.
Also, I haven’t done anything absolutely amazing so far besides a few programs.
Don’t set your mind on Ivy Leagues like many people who first come on this thread do. There are plenty of good colleges out there, you should be happy going to other colleges. If you aren’t accepted a 3 won’t be the reason why.
AP scores play little to no role in the admissions decision. You have a couple of years before you can determine if an Ivy-caliber school is in your future. Speculation is pointless until you have SAT/ACT scores. Until then, do well in classes, prepare for SAT/ACT, and engage in some ECs.
It is not a requirement that all AP scores be reported. You can simply not list the 3. Regardless, as said above, if you end up getting rejected by a school, a 3 will not be the reason. Good luck.
