Do i have a shot at any of these?

Hey everybody, what are my chances with these places and should i try and go for schools with higher reputations or would i just be wasting my time? The only thing i'm just worried about is my standardized test scores for the most part

General:
I'm an Asian male that goes to a public school in northern Virginia

-My GPA: 4.37 weighted (don't know rank or unweighted yet) I've gotten all A's in high school so it should at least still be a 4.0 unweighted
Also, i've taken classes over the summer for 2 summers. Should i include that? I took Bio and Geometry around my freshmen year

-I'm very good with people and interviews so that won't be a big issue with me for the most part, same applies for recommendations

-I don't know if this will help or not, but i can speak 3 languages
I can speak English and Vietnamese fluently and Spanish semi-fluently

-SAT: only a 1750, i did horrible because i was being cocky and just took it cold turkey and i'm planning to retake it in October and also take the ACT as well with studying this time so i'm hoping for at least a 2000 and a 30

-AP's (including senior year)- Biology, Chemistry, Literature, US History, World History, Psychology, Calculus AB
7 total

EC's and Accomplishments (including senior year)-

-Varsity Tennis (Lettered) for 3 years
-Relay for Life Participant
-Marching Band (We're the best in our area and we've been to Carnegie Hall and we're going to be in the New years London Parade for 2011)(Also Lettered) for 4 years
-Symphonic Winds (Top Band in school) for 3 years
-Jazz Band for 2 years
-National Honors Society
-National Society for High School Scholars
-Cornwall Station Volunteer (Mental hospital) 1 year
-Inova Loudoun Hospital Volunteer for 5 years
-Junior Varsity Debate (Lettered) for 2 years
-Model U.N. for 2 years
-World Aware Youth/Students Against Genocide 1 year (group disbanded)
-Signet/Academic Competition for 3 years
-Loudoun County Volunteer Services Award
-Applied and got accepted into the Monroe Tech Inst. Introduction to Health and Medicine Class for my senior year (i'm taking that as a class, so it might not be included here) It's dual enrollment so i get college credit

"Hidden EC's and accomplishments" (The things i do on my own time that i might put on the app? i saw this on one of the stickies in the other threads so give me your opinions!)

-P90x workouts ( i dedicate about 8-10 hours every week to do these so i do have to have some time for them and I'm proud of results) and went from about 170 lbs to 140lbs as of now (still going!)
-Job at Color Me Mine
-Self-teaching myself Korean (I'm in love with Kpop!)
-Dancing Hip-Hop and doing dance covers of songs, mostly kpop ones
-Nominated into the PEER program (you have to be recommended by teachers and students in the program vote to let you in) and got in but had to deny invitation because of schedule conflict (Should i include this one or no?)
-Voted Class Cutie many times even when i was still fat ( i have an award they made to prove it haha)

Oh and i'm really hesitant to include this one, but here it is haha. WoW and video game addict for 8 years (Final Fantasy, PS3, Xbox360, Wii, Halo, CoD, etc.)..sober as of august 2009...well i still play sometimes... :P

So ya, a lot of this stuff seems kinda random but i kinda just wanted to include everything i do really, minus just hanging with friends, family, etc., for them to just know who i am as a person too, not someone who just sits around and studies all the time. So what do you all think? What should i include and not include?

Places i want to go: (Any other suggestions welcome)

University of Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth University
Virginia Tech
James Madison University
The George Washington University
Harvard (Haha, doubt it)

These are just who i know so far, maybe a couple more schools. My number one pick is George Washington University, but the thing is that it's so expensive! I may need to apply for financial aid, but does it help if my dad is an alumni there? He graduated from GWU about 20 something years ago. I've heard they are very generous but i don't know.

Thanks! :)

Oh and i’ll chance back! :)

wow! great ec’s and with your stats, even with the low SAT score you woul still get into most of the schools. Harvard, is a bit of a stretch, but I mean, it is for everyone! It’s Harvahrd.
If you were able to raise your SAT or get a good ACT then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get in to GWU. (:
Best of luck!

if you break 2000 like you’re predicting then id say your into all of them (cept harvard haha). even with a 1750 i think youd be into all of them since your instate cept GWU which would be on the edge but it’s definitely helpful that your dads an alumni and could push you into the accepted column. Good Luck!

To be honest, if you have great scores and GPA AND have all your ECs, you are spectacular.
But with the low SAT, it just seems like you didn’t prioritize things very efficiently.
I don’t think your ECs will help so much.
If I were you, I would spend all my time studying for the SAT.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! @dhs911230, i agree with you on that one, that SAT score atm is holding me back, but I’m definitely going to be working to getting that score up and hopefullly getting a high ACT score!

Also if anyone else has places in mind that would be a school i would have a shot at getting into, all ideas are welcome!

wow u have so much going on! if u boost the sats i dont see a problem w any of those schools…harvard is even a possibility  and you should be fine for GW
pleaseee

To keep things objective schools start with the numbers, i.e. academic record (grades) and tests. They’ll set up the pile of 2300+ SAT with >4.3GPA and set those applications aside, then go to the 2200s, 2100s, etc. Once they get past the numbers they’ll look at the subjective, ECs, hardships, etc. You’ve got a lot of stuff on the EC list but not sure any of it indicates you’ve got any particular interest. Do what you can to bump the test score or try the ACT. Actually, you’re school choices shouldn’t pose a problem even with a 1,750 SAT. Good luck.

you have a great shot at alot of these schools. The only one I think is a reach is Harvard but you never know. Get the SAT up and maybe youll have a shot and it will definatly lock in all the other schools. I don’t know if you were joking or not but I probably wouldn’t include the stuff about the video games. Overall you definatly got a great shot at all these.
Best of luck chap.

Hi, I’m also planning on participating in the Signet Classics Scholarship and was wondering how you got it for three years? Or did you merely participate? I’d think that they wouldn’t allow past winners to win the prize of the Signet classics library again…

I would say you did have a pretty good chance if you can raise your standardized test scores and you do have good grades, which still form the main impression that colleges get. Of course, the results are already out so there’d be no real reason you’d be checking this forum…
