Hello!
I am a current senior from Wisconsin applying RD to Gtown this year. It is simply my dream school, however I fear my application and academics may not be up to par.
A- to A student, grades dropped to mostly B+ during quarentine/virtual…
My school does have many AP classes, after this year I will have taken 9 of them, mostly related to Social Studies, Econ, and Literature. I have NOT taken Calculus, but am enrolled in AP Stats and PreCalc. A few honors classes here and there, but no AP sciences.
33 on ACT, may take again. Have not taken SAT II’s yet but I think I will do well on those (Math 1, US Hist, Lit)
I am applying to the McDonough school with a preferred major in accounting.
Extracurriculars: Award-winning debator. Leader in a major regional student civic organization (Junior State of America). Currently spend 30 hours a week running a family business in which I am HEAVILY involved (doing payroll, leading employees, running social media and branding, even do publicity w/ press on occasion). I also am heavily interested in politics, law, and gov’t (big reason why I’m applying to Gtown). I have worked on congressional campaigns, founded a youth chapter of a political party at my school. Involved on cabinets of various other clubs and honor societies.
I fancy myself a bit of a writer and poet, so I think my college essays are very good. I also believe my letters of recommendation are ok. I fear my academics may not be up to par, though I am quite proud of the work I do outside of school.
What are your thoughts? Do I have a shot?
