Intended Major: I'm really undecided, but I'm considering psychology, maybe biochemistry? Then possibly getting an MBA after undergrad.

I'm trying to add more private universities so I can at least get some better financial aid too.

I know my GPA is what's really hindering me in this process, but I've dealing with issues of depression and motivation for a while. Mentioning those two wont help me in the app process though, so I've decided to get rid of a ton of reach schools that I dreamed of before and look for more matches and safeties. Suggestions are welcome (I like schools that aren't too small [>3000], have a somewhat intellectual student body, are diverse, not in the middle of nowhere [proximity to a major city or huge town at least], and good academics)

Thanks!

Bump???

No offense, but it really looks like you have no chance at Georgetown. You can look at the admissions statistics for yourself, but I can tell you they are much higher than what you have now. The lowest 25% of admitted freshman have above a 2000 on the sat. Their average GPS is close to a 4. The only a’s you got in high school were in the easy classes and the scores of your ap tests are not that great. I don’t mean to sound mean but I think you may be reaching a little too much for your reach schools. Best of luck to you, though!

*GPA… Stupid autocorrect

Your list is not very accurate IMO.

Duke: No
Emory: high reach
College of William and Mary: high reach
University of Virginia: No
University of Southern California: No
University of Maryland, Baltimore County: match
University of Maryland, College Park: low-mid reach
Virginia Tech: low reach
University of Delaware: high match
University of Miami: reach
University of Pittsburgh: reach
American University: low reach
Temple: match
Penn State: mid-high reach (because of GPA)

Not trying to be offensive, but any kind of affirmative action will not help your case. Your stats are just way too below their standards, sorry. Also, Miami is NOT a match. Temple and Penn State are not safeties either.

Reevaluate your school list…I can’t imagine what it looked like BEFORE you threw out the “dream schools”, did you have Harvard on there or something? Most of your reaches are not even reaches, they are out of reach.

Apply to Towson and Frostburg, so you know you’ll at least get into a college. Your list has 0 safeties.

Honestly your chances are higher than people are making them out to be.

@meganellen no offense taken I know this
@teenbodybuilder can you give me reasons why? I’ve done parchment and cappex chances, they say I have a pretty decent shot at miami
@tyrtle im being forced to apply to schools i know i won’t get into because my mother doesn’t understand that i virtually have no chances anywhere
@yungkhalifa420 thanks for at least trying to be nice, nobody wants to hear that they’re doomed.

Miami’s average GPA is a 4.2. When I went to an info session they said they only like to see 1-2 Cs; you have 9. You do not have a decent shot because even though your SAT is average, your GPA is well below average. To be a match, both have to be average.

Okay, thanks for being honest
