So I'm a junior at a respected small private school in my state. I'm still undecided about my major. I'm told I have a rather nice high school resume, but is it enough to get accepted into this prestigious ivy league college? I haven't taken the SAT or ACT yet, not have I received my PSAT scores. For first quarter I had a weighted 4.2 GPA, last year my weighted GPA averaged 4.2 and the year before it was roughly 3.7. I am taking 1 AP course and three honors classes. Not all of the AP classes that are offered have good instructors, which has caused many students' grades to suffer. As a result, I have decided not to take these classes, but I haven't stopped trying to maintain a rigorous curriculum. I'm in my third year of a foreign language and am taking every honors course available to juniors. I have held many leadership positions in organizations such as Vice President and co-chairman. I am in the Pacific Asian Affairs Council Club, National Honor Society, and Student Council. I have been involved in one sport for three years and have dedicated a lot of time and effort to it. I am currently a varsity member and have held positions as team captain before. I also have a passion for drawing, reading (novels, comics, newspaper, etc.), and music. I have taken all of the honors courses available at my high school since freshmen year. I was in band for two years, but this year I had a schedule conflict so I was unable to take it. I am in Girl Scouts and have earned the Bronze and Silver Award, hoping to earn the Gold Award this year (leadership service project awards). I officially do 40-70 official hours of community service each year, but uncharted hours are also done. What do you think? I know I didn't get too into detail, but just the gist of your analysis is fine. I may not be the smartest in my class, but I am a very bright student who has the aptitude and desire to learn. I have participated in various language camps and plan on going to China to learn Mandarin this summer, too. I really enjoy traveling! Sorry, I'm getting off topic...anyway, I'd really appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

The fact that you didn’t take the most rigorous coursework avaliable at your school is hurting your chances.

Take the SAT / ACT soon though, you definately don’t want to leave that til the last minute.
