I am a sophomore right now. My GPA freshman year was a 93 in all honors courses. My GPA this year is a 91 in all honor and AP courses. My GPA is unweighted. I took a practice SAT at my school and I got around a 2100 so I am assuming I will get around that on the real thing. I play sports and have lots of activities. Do I have a shot?

Yeah, you have a shot. Your stats are above the mean for Georgetown, and your GPA and ECs seem good to boot. Just keep it up and when college app time comes around, you’ll have some great schools to choose from!

The stats are not above the mean–they are likely within the 50% range of accepted applicants: this year, accepted applicants averaged in the top 3% of their class and had SAT averages of 720 each for Math and Critical Reading.

You are a sophomore, so if you continue to progress, you will have a great shot. It’s good to be mindful years in advance, as you are now, but don’t stress it. I didn’t take any standardized tests until my junior year, and I took most during my senior year, so you have plenty of time to get your SAT sky-high and to nail three SAT II’s (and maybe more, if you please).

I agree that you do have a shot at getting in. However, I also agree that if you work hard, keep your grades up (or raise them even), and do well on the SAT II’s / SAT I you have a great chance. It’s never too early to start thinking about college :)
