I will be applying to:
-University of Wisconsin-Madison

-Stanford University (Early Action)
-University of Virginia (from out of state)
-Duke University
-Emory University
-University of Pennsylvania
-Brown University
-Washington University (St. Louis)
-Harvard College

-Please be honest in your evaluation and let me know if there is anything I can do to increase my chances as only Stanford's application has already been submitted. Thank you very much.

-University of Wisconsin-Madison- Maybe
-Georgetown University- Yes
-Stanford University (Early Action)- Far reach
-University of Virginia (from out of state)- Doubt it since you are out of state
-Duke University- no
-Emory University- Yes
-University of Pennsylvania- No
-Brown University- Reach
-Washington University (St. Louis)- You're in
-Harvard College- No

Thanks for the response. If you have the time, could you maybe briefly tell me why or what I'm lacking? Thank you. PS Why would you say I may not get into UW-Madison. That is in state for me and I feel very qualified and know many students less qualified from my school who have gotten in.

you are 100% in at Madison

I think you have a very good shot everywhere. I would send the 35 ACT instead of the 2250 SAT. Good luck!!

reject: harvard/stanford/upenn

On the Princeton Review it says the average ACT is 30, and andrew has a 35. It also says he has .02 higher on his UW GPA. I know the PR is a lot of b.s. sometimes, but he should still have a chance.

Just an update, I received my UW-Madison acceptance today. I am still wondering about the others though. It feels good to have a safety under my belt but I really want to get into some others. Can anyone else offer an honest eval of my chances?

Your ECs are a little weak for the top schools, but in everything else you look really good.

Thank you for your responses. I agree my EC's are my achilles heel. What can I tell my brother to do better so this portion of his application is stronger than mine when he applies to college next year?

-University of Wisconsin-Madison- of course (and you know anyway)
Georgetown University- match
-Stanford University (Early Action)- reach
-University of Virginia (from out of state)- slight reach
-Duke University- slight reach / reach
-Emory University- match
-University of Pennsylvania- slight reach / reach
-Brown University- reach
-Washington University (St. Louis)- slight reach
-Harvard College- reach

Very likely you will land one of: Georgetown, UVA, Emory, or WashU.
Decent chance at landing one of: Stanford, Duke, Penn, Brown, or Harvard.

Thank you that is very encouraging, I hope you are right. Anyone else have some input? Someone criticize my credentials please. Tell me what I could have done better.

If you're really that nice at tennis, that is a huge leg up. Have you thought about playing for any of those schools? I know a kid who will probably be playing tennis at Emory. Of course most of those schools are big and probably D1 so it would be tough to play there, but it's something to look into.

-Georgetown University - match
-Stanford University (Early Action) - slight reach
-University of Virginia - I'd call this a safety
-Duke University - slight reach / reach
-Emory University - match
-University of Pennsylvania- slight reach
-Brown University - slight reach
-Washington University (St. Louis)- slight reach
-Harvard College - reach

Showing that much dedication to tennis is nice. It's not like you've completely neglected other things, there are certainly other EC's on there. Class rank, SAT, and ACT are all excellent

two words: amazing stats

In everywhere except Brown

Thank you for the feedback everyone!

I don't know if this changes much but I decided to apply to the Wharton School of Business at Upenn. What do you all think for Wharton RD? I really emphasized the fact that I've taken 6 (all) the pertinent business classes at my school and wrote solid essays to display my interest.
