Do I have a shot for JHU Engineering?

I'm going to apply for Chemical Engineering in their engineering school and I want to know if I have a good shot...

Stats:
- GPA: my school has a weird scaling system and it's a tough independent school, so it would be around 3.6-3.7, with a huge upscale each year. This semester I have a 4.2 GPA

ACT score: 31

SAT II scores: Math I: 730; Chem: 730

Extracurriculars: Founder and President of FBLA since Junior year; President of Maroon Stock Exchange Club; President of Sports Writing Club; Part of Key Club since frosh year; leader in Community Service Board; Was part of the most prestigious high school choir from frosh to junior year; Model UN since freshman year; Model Congress since Junior Year; Had an internship with a hedge fund on wall street Freshman year; last year had an internship in Columbia University; was top 5 in a national stock game (turned $100,000 to $250,000 in a quarter of a year)

Do I have a good chance for getting in? What are my pros and cons?

Thanks a bunch!

anyone think i have a shot

I’d say it’s a high target / low reach. The finance internships are interesting. I think JHU has been trying to improve its reputation on wall street, but right now it lags behind similarly ranked schools like Brown, Cornell, and Northwestern.

So those experiences might push you over the edge with JHU.

What do you mean high target/low reach?

It means you’re a competitive candidate, but acceptance isn’t certain. You should apply to safeties and lower targets that you’d be happy going to. If you want to work in finance, look into schools that the major firms recruit at.
