Do I have a shot?

I am applying ED to the School of Industrial and Labor Relations and I would like to know if I have a shot at getting in. I got a 1420 on my SATs (790m, 630v) and I have a GPA of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale. I have taken the most challenging curriculum that my school has to offer (6 APs), and I have outstanding extracurriculars. I have a long list of activities and I have leadership roles in almost every one of them. Some of the more notable ones are Class President and Captain of the wrestling team. I could probably walk on to the wrestling team at Cornell but I am not being recruited. I am a National Merit Commended Scholar and I have won a few other awards. Neither of my parents have a college degree, so I will be the first to graduate from college, would that be a hook? ( I am not poor or underprivileged, so I doubt it will be) Also, there are three other kids applying to Cornell from my high school early decision. One has higher SAT scores than me with the same gpa, but he doesn't have any extracurriculars. One has a higher gpa but lower SAT scores and no extracurriculars. The last one got about an 1100 on her SATs and has a 3.0 but she is supposedly a recruited rower. As far as I know all three are applying to CAS though, so I don't know if that will affect me. Oh, I almost forgot, I am a white male from PA, if that matters. Thanks and any input would be appreciated.

anybody have any thoughts? I'll answer additional questions if it would be helpful

If your EC's are as good as you say and the differences in GPA and SAT between you and the other applicants are only marginal, then I'd say you've probably got the best shot out the lot. I don't think athletic recruit even compete in the same pool anyway.

^..cornell doesn't take athletic recruits anyway xP..<--..i think --;;
Ah...you sound like a good candidate! your ecs should make up for your grades and sat (though in no way are they bad)..but it sounds kinda..similar to the ECs of a lot of others, do you know what i mean? haha...not to puncture your balloon or whatnot. i don't think the national merit scholarship commendation is that important right? I got one too, but then so did 300,000 others? ^-^

Cornell recruits athletes...they just don't provide money. Athletes can be one standard deviation lower than average admit.....and the rules go on and on and on...depending on the sport etc etc etc....

I find it doubtfall the girl going for the crew team would qualify using the AI

I think you have a shot....good luck!

thanks for the imput guys!! The last part of my application was sent in today, so it's out of my hands, good luck to everyone applying to Cornell.
