Do I Have a Shot?

I really want to go to georgetown really really really badly
my GPA unweighted is a 3.73 and my sats are 1960 (710 M 650 W 600 CR) but i already retook them and get the scores this saturday. I've taken 8 honors and two APs (Spanish and French) and am waiting for those scores back but I'm pretty sure I got fives. Every summer I've gone to a different language immersion program and by the time i matriculate i'll be speaking 5 languages almost fluently. Do you think i have a good shot??
thanks!

there are no minimum score requirements at Georgetown, but your scores are a little below the mean admit at Georgetown. They like their freshmen to be top 5% of their class. Write a great essay. Good luck.

Your language and summer experiences will make you stand out as a candidate but will get you nowhere without stronger test scores and GPA. You’ll need at least a 2100 to really be considered for georgetown. Take more AP classes and work on getting your GPA up. Most georgetown admittees have near perfect GPAs with schedules full of AP/IB courses. Also, what are your school year ECs? Doing some service work related to your love for language might be helpful.

^You do not need a 2100 to be considered by Georgetown.

Actually a 2100 is not needed to admitted to Georgetown. I had no where close to that score and I still got into Georgetown. Yes, numerical data and scores are looked at but that is not all. They look for something that makes you stand out, a certain passion that makes you different from others.

So after getting my new sat scores j have
710 M 720 W 620 CR
So 2050 composite
I was also on the French exchange at my school and during all the immersions I participated in I did some form of community service
Additionally I am
A manager at a grocery store and work there about 30 hours a week and I’m the youngest in the 350 store company
What do you all think?

In addition I’m graduating a semester early and I’m the only one in my 500 person class to do so

I visited g’town just yesterday, took the tour, learned about the admissions process, and even met the dean of admissions, I just wanted to say that the one thing I continue to read about on this forum is sat scores, at georgetown, they do not even look at your English scores so there is not really a composite score to have as a goal, they do however want to see that you’ve taken 3 course sat tests of your choosing, lastly, I was informed that the normal acceptance rate is 18% and that of a legacy doubles

My son was accepted to the SFS and is so excited & proud to be a future Hoya. This year was particularly competitive for Georgetown applicants. When my son attended the GAAP weekend for admitted students in May, the students were told by the deans that they were thrilled with the applicant pool this year and anticipate admissions selections will be equally competitive next year. While in the past the acceptance rate average was around 18%, this year it was closer to 12%. Below is an article, regarding yield rates that would be great for prospective students to read. I think many, including admissions, were very surprised with the high yield. [Waitlist Closed as Yield Nears 50% - The Hoya - Georgetown University’s Newspaper of Record Since 1920](http://www.thehoya.com/waitlist-closed-as-yield-nears-50-1.2237510)

My son chose to take three SATII’s (one in FL because he was applying to the SFS) and all were in the mid-700’s. Anything that a prospective student can do to highlight their academic abilities would be helpful. I also agree with the other posts that the extracurriculars are also very, very important (especially service oriented EC).
