Do I have a shot?

What are my chances of getting into Johns Hopkins?
I'm applying for Biomedical Engineering (College of Engineering)
I'm applying Regular Decision.
I have fairly decent essays and good recommendations.
I attend a private school in Michigan.
The other schools I'm looking at are Columbia and Umich.
Thanks for your input.

Very impressive stats! Your GPA seems low (3.4?), but your ranking is great.

What are your AP scores?

There is still a chance you may be denied, but only because you may not show enough interest.

so far i've taken only two AP's and have done not that great:
AP Chem 4
AP Latin Vergil IV 3
this year i'm taking 5:
AP Bio
AP Physics
AP BC Calculus
AP Latin V
AP Survey of English Literature

yea my GPA is low because i have had alot of B+'s (all 1 point below an A-) so that will hurt me

anyone else?

your stats are enough to get you in. Of the APs you've taken, Chem is the only important one. Your score isn't too bad. For you it's not an issue if you meet the requirements, but more if you have enough interest in JHU.

how can i show that interest? merely from the essay questions?
btw, thanks for your responses

A good way to show interest is through the interview. Did you have an interview already? Another way to show interest is to email the adcom with any questions you may have (about BME coursework, where BME can take you, etc). You can even email your interviewer (if he/she was a student) and ask things about student life. You don't have to go that far, but it would be nice.

Essays are a little harder. More or less just make sure it looks like you put effort into it.

Overall you have a good shot, so I wouldn't worry too much. Most likely you will get accepted into most of the schools you mentioned, but pick JHU of course.
