I really appreciate any comments! Thanks Everyone!!

ACT seems low but otherwise it looks fine. The problem is we all (I may apply too) look fine. I have NO idea how they choose.
I have ‘heard’ the geographic diversity is a push currently. Will CA help or hurt? I would think help. Good Luck!
HSG

ACT is a little bit lower…but I think Barnard doesn’t value standard test too importantly… Essay and supplements are apparently more vital… Wish u good luck

My daughter’s ACT was 28. I don’t see any problem at all with an application from someone with a similar ACT, a 4.0 unweighted GPA, a bunch of AP’s, and a good array of EC’s.

You can’t get in if you don’t apply.

If you do apply, you have as much a chance as anyone else. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

That’s not a guarantee — they have more well-qualified applicants applying than they have space for – but the ACT won’t keep you out. 37% of Barnard’s students who submit ACTs have scores between 24-29.

Your ACT is just part of the package. Barnard accepts a very small percentage of students with ACT’s 23 or possibly below. So a 26 is not disqualifying - they are looking at the whole package. Again, my daughter was accepted with a 28 – she was a successful student at Barnard and later graduated with top honors. She also was a very good student in high school – she had A’s in all academic subjects, a reasonable number of AP’s, and she had a high class rank (top 2%) - she came from a public arts magnet, was a talented dancer, and had studied abroad during high school. So she had strong academics and interesting EC’s. I think her essays were delightful, and she had an amazing LOR from her English teacher.

I’m sure that her test scores had absolutely nothing to do with her admission. She tends to be weak in math – the ACT composite was brought down by a weak math score, and she didn’t get very far with math in high school. But she obviously was not going to be a math or science major.

DON"T worry about your scores. Just do the best you can when you retake the tests and then focus on the rest of your application.
