Do i have a shot?

I am a rising senior that is looking at Chicago's economy or psychology program and i wanted to see if i even have a shot here.

I attend a very rigorous private school in New York, we send about 20, maybe even more to top schools a year. School doesnt offer AP courses but we have a very rigorous schedule. I have a 90/100(we dont calculate GPAs on a 4 point scale yet) GPA. I am in 4 clubs(including Economics Club) and do a decent amount of community service. Going to Boys State this summer, am in NHS. SATs are clearly my weak point, but i WILL bring them up by the time i apply (M-600;CR-540;W-580) so lets say hypothetically i bring them up each 100 points. How would my chances be?

Bump, anyone?

From reading your post, I don’t really know what you want to do or what you’re interested in. I know you didn’t type out everything that you’ve done specifically, but I guess what your “application” lacks is a sense of direction. Where do you want to go and how would you demonstrate your intentions?

At least for UChicago, I would say a sense of direction is not terribly important. When I applied, I only had a very vague idea of what I wanted to do - international relations or poli sci. My ECs had absolutely nothing to do with those interests, with the exception of a sr. year internship for my US Senator, and I only briefly mentioned it an essay. I think my lack of definitive career goals hurt me at some schools, but not Chicago. Raise your SATs a bit, but more importantly, be aware that Chicago is a unique school, be certain it is a good fit, and demonstrate that in your application. Good luck. :)
