Your weighted GPA is not nearly as important as your unweighted GPA.

Your ACT is about where it should be, above the minimum range.
Your SAT’s are on the low side, with most of them falling in the minimum range.
Your total SAT score (1280/1940) is not as useful as your individual SAT results, i.e. Writing 660 etc. Also important is what faculty you’re applying to. A stronger English ACT grade might be desirable for Arts, etc.

And, finally, you need to check your school transcripts (not your report card but the actual transcript sent to colleges) to make sure they do not include standardized testing. Not only would this reveal your SAT marks, it would also show that you did not report all scores. Although McGill requires either the ACT or the SAT plus two SAT II’s, they also require that all tests taken be reported.

I think you have a pretty good shot. I got into Arts with a lower math SAT than yours, and slightly better SAT IIs. The rest of our stats are similar, though I did send a recommendation from a McGill alum. No idea if that helped.

Hey, I’m a student living outside North America. I’m a canadian citizen. I am an IB Student.

SAT Score: 1890
Unweighted Cumulative GPA: 3.7
IB Predicted Scores: Not Sure… But they shouldn’t be low…

I applied to the Neuroscience and Microbiology&Immunology programs and got rejected due to limited space available.

I also applied to the Faculty of Arts & Sciences and the Faculty of Science (Life Sciences, Biology, etc program). It says “Further Review Required.” The problem is that my GPA for my first semester of 12th grade (the GPA on my mid-year report) is around a 3.35…

What are my chances my getting in to McGill? (and will my Mid-Year report affect my chances of making it?)

I didnt know you could apply to neurology and MI right out of high school. micro is a very difficult program and i think you have to maintain a certain college gpa to be in it, and also write an essay, but don’t quote me on that. those are both very small programs and highly specific so it isnt a surprise they said limited space. the arts and sciences program is also very selective because they are looking for well rounded kids that can handle a large and diverse workload. the science faculty is the easiest to get into of these because it is very large and has many programs.

your grades seem fine, though your mid-year report could have a negative impact. your sat is probably close to what they are looking for so it looks like you will be right in the mix of a bunch of kids with similar numbers. i think you have a good shot but like a lot of undergrad admissions, sometimes its a crapshoot on who gets the nod and who doesnt… good luck
