Do I have a shot?

In state applicant
Applying as a Freshman
School sends some to Ivy/Top Tier schools

GPA: Around 3.65 (Unweighted)
Class Rank: 125/1158 (Missed top 10 by about 10 people :/)
SAT: CR: 700 M: 650 W: 720 (2070)... I just took the SAT yesterday and am expecting a mid 2100, also I might take the SAT 1 last time and shoot for the 2200
Course Rigor: Hardest possible

APs:

World History- 5
Psychology-5
English Language/Composition- 5
Biology- 4
U.S. History- 5

AP's taking this year: English Literature, Chemistry, Human Geography, Economics, U.S Government, and Calculus AB

EC's: Not that many, just some volunteer hours here and there, but I do have extensive work experience if that adds to anything

Other: The main reason that my class rank/GPA is low is mainly because of 9th grade. I didn't really think about college back then, so I didn't apply myself as I should have. My grades have improved in an upward trend every year, and I am doing well so far to get straight A's this semester if that makes a difference.

I am looking to get on the Premed track.

Thanks in advance

You should get into UT. Pretty good class rank and test scores.

I’m curious, but does UT still have that plan where they don’t outright reject you, but if you go to this Summer Camp type program then you are admitted? I don’t know if that’s how it exactly goes, but I remember a current student telling our school that last year.

I think the summer program is gone, but they still have CAP, so if they think you are a good candidate but can’t admit you due to space reasons, for example, you can go to another UT campus for a year and so long as you meet the requirements, your transfer to Austin is guaranteed. I’d call admissions to be sure about the summer option, unless another board member knows for certain.

I think you’ll get in, especially if you are applying for natural sciences.

Good luck!

Alright thanks, I hope I can get in.
