Why one student is chosen by an alum to be interviewed while others do not receive interviews is complicated, somewhat random, and primarily driven by geography. Some students are chosen directly by individual alumni in smaller ARC regions. Others are assigned by alumni "ARC chairman" to specific interviewers based on alumni preferences mostly related to what high school or geographic area they are interested in. Other prospective students are chosen based on individual alums request to their ARC chairman. This year some students are even assigned to alums based upon computer assignment mostly based upon geography. What there is NOT is a pre-determined selection based upon review of the admission committee such as "that one looks good - interview him or her" or "that one has lousy SAT scores forget about him". It does not happen that way. At the end of the day it is partly random and mostly based upon what area the student lives in. Alumni (not admission committee) interest also plays a role. This is one reason why the interview process is a rather small part of admissions. There are many fabulous students who receive offers of admission every year who never get interviewed.

^^exactly.

Don't fret about it. I never got an interview (4 years ago) and got in. I know several people like that, including those who live in the United States (I don't)

ok, thanks guys. Then I won't be worried that much if I don't get interviewed.
