-Wrote a very personal essay about my father's alcoholism, and how he took his own life when I was eight years old. It is very, very good (If I dare say so myself).

Did you say 14.91 in the 110 highs? Damn son get on the phone with the Coach!!! Your stuff looks excellent to me. That time puts you at like what 7th in the nation last year? CU track is legit if you want to run on a championship program and work hard academically.

For more information about the track team Go to: [Cornell University](http://cornellbigred.com/index.aspx?tab=trackfield&path=mtrack)

I couldn’t find the actual required times just now, but perhaps you’d be able to search better.

Also, there’s a questionnaire on the right side that you can fill out and send to coaches.

In terms of your chances, I’d say Cornell University is a slight reach for you. You still certainly have a chance, and nothing is wasted by applying.

One thing that would help us further is more description about your academics.

Furthermore, what major(s) and colleges are you applying to? This has a large influence on things.

About your essay: I understand that it’s a very personal thing, but you may want to have a college counselor take a look at it, if you haven’t already. There’s a certain inherent danger in the types of essays like the one you’ve described (from a college admissions perspective). Feel free to bring this conversation to PMs if you’d like. I can elaborate more, if you’d like. You’re also welcome to have me look at your essay if you can’t find a counselor to do so.

You applied to a lot of the schools I did, and I’d be happy to chance you further.
