Do I have Any Chance at all?

I'm a rising senior at a pretty notorious high school. I'm in the IB program which differentiates myself from the rest of my class. Academically I maintain about an A average (but I get B's in math and science almost every semester), and am in the top 5% of my class (22/554). Along with average grades, I participate in a lot in orchestra. I've been section leader for 6 years and have also participated in the Baltimore Symphony orchestra (2 yrs), All county orchestra (5 yrs), all state (1 yr) and have received the National Orchestra Award. I also take part in my school's math club, Key club, drama club, music honor society, and national honor society. My dream school has always been Carnegie Mellon. I have literally dreamed of going there since i was 8. I have consistently been emailing CMU over the past few years so hopefully they know who I am. But My SAT grade wasn't what i hoped it to be (1710), so i've been studying to get it to about a 1900 but haven't taken the real sat again. I plan on doing so in october. I just found out that CMU requires subject tests which i know i won't take because math isn't my strong subject. Although i might take the biology subject test. I just would like to know if CMU (or any school for that matter) would reject me automatically because I wont submit a subject test. Sorry for the length :( I'm just really nervous. Thank you! I'm also looking at University of Michigan, any luck with that school? Please and thank you!!

oh and I have an interview with CMU on august 20 if that makes a difference at all

You have to take subject tests, or else you won’t get admitted. You can take whichever two you want, in any subject that suits you best. For example, I took the AP US Hist and AP Lit exams this year and felt confident about them, so to the following month I took the US Hist and Lit Subject Tests.

You have a great chance at CM, except the SAT is a little low. Have you tried the ACT?

Good luck! :)
