But honestly, the GPA is much lower than NYU range. Looking at the ED decisions, test scores alone won’t get you in. And they only pay attention to unweighted GPA. It’s a reach.

your uw gpa is low but weighted is good so i’m guessing you took a lot of ap and honors classes? all you can do now is write an amazing essay, get great recs, and maybe retake the ACTs or try the SATs to get your test scores as high as you can. like esnyujind said, test scores alone won’t do it all, but do everything you can to take attention away from that uw gpa!

Your GPA is below NYU’s caliber. That doesn’t mean you’re done for. I applied RD for Tisch School of the Arts a few weeks ago. My GPA isn’t the best that NYU will see out of an applicant this spring, but I used what was still in my control (portfolio, supplement) to show them my potential.

As for this guidance counselor, a guidance counselor at my school told one of my friends that she wouldn’t get into Vassar, and she did.

dude i got into NYU with much lower GPA and test scores if u want my stats i’ll message it to u, dont worry about it. i think they accepted me cause i demostrated independence with my career achievements and a bunch community service hours etc.

The people who got in with a lower gpa must have been lsped then… The average at NYU is around a 3.6uw and I’ve seen people with 3.9 get rejected. Your ACT is average… but it should be higher to make up for your gpa… Clubs are very important to, just write great essays. It’s definitely a reach

Honestly, I don’t think you’re going to get in. ED is inherently different, and your grades are very pedestrian without a wow factor like a test score to compensate. I can be nice and say you always have a chance (which is true), but to be real you probably won’t get in. If you really love NYU go for it, why the hell not, right? the app fee in the grand scheme of things isnt a big deal i wouldn’t think, especially if you’re considering a school this expensive.
