you have a very cool resume to say the least. your story is amazing and a huge bonus and your extracurriculars are amazing as well. Your academic workload could be more rigorous for top ivys but otherwise i think that you will be successful in admissions. please return the favor and rate me at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/968121-ooooo-how-i-hate-admissions.html</a>. thanks

Yeah, I agree. You definitely have a good chance b/c your ECs are very impressive. The only thing holding you back is probably your test scores and GPA.

Your stats are low. The ACT score is low for NU (median range 30-33), your weighted GPA is low, and your academic rigor is pretty mild. That could very possibly hold you back.

But it’s hard to deny that, when it comes to life and to admissions, you have an amazing story to tell and should definitely tell. =) Give it a shot. Your ECs are also great. I think you would have a much better chance in ED.

Thanks I will apply ED.

Can I get some more opinions on my chances?

I’m not sure what your chances are but you should definitely apply. There are bound to be exceptions to the rule and your goal should be to be one of those exceptions. Good luck! ED will definitely help if NU is your first choice.

I would make the same observation I made on the WashU board (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/washington-university-st-louis/968180-do-i-have-decent-chance-getting.html</a>), except that I suspect that ED is more of a boost at WashU than at NU (i.e., there is more of a difference between ED vs RD GPAs and test scores at WashU than at NU).

Thanks WCASParent. Do you think you can provide me a source for that info? I don’t think I’ll apply RD to either NU or WashU, I’ll have to choose one of them for ED.

I would prefer to go to NU since it is closer but realistically, I’ll take either one.

That observation is based on looking at Naviance from a couple of top schools and seeing that there is a fairly small difference between ED and RD at NU, but a more substantial one at WashU.

Jeez I have a pretty tough decision to make :/
