just want to know if I should even bother applying…

thanks :)

Maybe. Just maybe. Not sure what your class rank and stuff would be but it seems that your extracurriculars could make up for what you lack in grades.

-The Unsure Coot66

It's a reach for CAS but given your improvement in grades you have a good shot at CGS. (College of General Studies - you can look it up here or on BU's site.) Crew might help, but I can't evaluate that. Being a pallbearer . . . maybe that will do it for you. Got to love a pallbearer.

I know a person who plays in the BU crew team he told me BU is ranked 7th (or 8th) in the nation. So if you think you can make the crew team your chance will definitely be boosted. I suggest you contact the coaches in BU to find out.
Other than that, I actually think you have a shot a CAS even COM. But they will definitely be reaches due to your lower gpa and average SAT comparing to BU students.

I got into CGS EDI with slightly better stats. Dont think you can get into CAS or COM with those at all. Def. could get into CGS tho.

Yeah the College of General Studies seems like it may be a match school for you..

I got into CAS with an ACT score of 24 and with pretty dismal SAT 2s. Anything is possible, you should apply and see what happens. you probably got a 75 percent chance of getting in is my personal opinion.

No way in hell that's a 75% chance. No offense OP.

You can easily get into CGS, and if you get your sat up to the 1900's probably CAS too. SMG, though, would still be a reach.

Oh, I thought you meant 75% for CAS. I dont know the percentages, but def. a good shot at CGS.

so the common thought is that i will get in?
only to CGS?
Or is there a possibility for CAS?

thanks.
any chances or suggestions wanted!

No harm in applying I always say.

It is a reach for CAS, but you should apply. Everyone needs a few reaches.

BU is not that hard of a school to get into. If you really want to get in all you have to do is express tons of interest. For instance, if you fill out the common APP in the additional information section just say BU is your number one school , if you get in you will surely attend and you will accept any spot in the class including the College of Gen. studies.

This method worked for me and Got me into CAS with bad stats.

Really? Showing interest and enthusiasm about BU can help out that much? I went to BU as a freshman and absolutely loved it. Didn't do well because I had to work everyday after class. So I transfered to a less expensive school soph year. Luckily the financial situation changed and I can afford to go back. I had great HS stats and SAT's and tons of awards and honors, then poor grades at BU, mostly C's with a few B's in CAS. And at my current school I have a 3.8 GPA, Dean's List, Eta Sigma Delta Hosp. Honor Society, the whole works. And I made it clear in my essays and supplement that I love BU and that it is the place where I belong because I went there and had the pleasure of experiencing it for myself. I also keep in contact with Dean Stamas of SHA and sent him a letter of sincere gratitude for all his help. He said that he put a copy of the letter into my admissions folder because it showed how much I really want this. I was kind of figuring that the grades would be all they see and none of this passion and enthusiasm for BU would matter. I hope it is as important as you believe it is.

Devilsrule, does this mean your transfer was accepted? I never saw a post specifically mentioning your transfer decision.

Nah still haven't heard yet. This is why I'm still left to hope that showing enthusiasm is important. Hoping is all I can do until I know for sure

I got into School of Management with 3.0 GPA, so just try ;)
