With that being said-no slam dunks in the college application process, as you know. Spend time thinking about your essays-G’Luck! You would be a great addition to NU.
APOL-a mom

I’m going to be an NU freshman in the fall and I think you have a very good chance of getting in. ED would be be a guarantee.

I have a question though, how did you go about getting an internship at Grameen Bank in Bangladesh? I’ve heard a lot about them and I would be interested in finding out how to get involved

Getting the Grameen Bank internship was not very hard at all. As long as you have money to get there and live there (which is very cheap), they will accept you as an intern. As a high school student it was a little tricky to get the internship as its mostly geared for college students but after a couple of emails, they accepted me.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Ok awesome. I don’t mean to ask more questions on your chances thread, but how was the internship and how much did you learn? Also, and I don’t mean this negatively in any way, is it only limited to indian students? I did find the internship section on their website. Thanks again

lol, the internship is not limited to indian students. When i was there, most students were white and they were from all over the world: spain, turkey, canada, usa, india, etc etc.

To be completely honest, the internships in Bangladesh are not the same as they are in USA. As a result, they will not be giving you any “work”. Instead the internship is actually a learning experience. And there is a finite amount of knowledge that you can learn in 9-5 hours so a lot of your hours are going to be down time (unless you plan on doing research there). Overall I liked the experience (minus the downtime). Your gonna be spending a lot of time in the villages so make sure your capable of living there for a week or 2.

You have a nice chance. You’re scores are about average for NU, but I think your experiences put you over. Talking about microfinance in your essays awesome! Good luck.
