I’m not entirely sure, but have you considered looking at other schools? All I’ve really heard from UC students are complaints about how overrated their schools are, including Davis (which is apparently taught by TA’s instead of the actual teachers). If you insist on a UC school though, you could retake the SAT, this time with as much preparation as possible. Or you could take the ACT, since the critical reading section is easier, writing is optional, it’s cheaper and the Science section is extremely easy and will bring your score up. They call it ‘Science’ but it’s really just reading charts and lab reports so any information you need is basically given to you. Besides, with any science-based major, even if it is just a social science, the ACT may be preferred.
